Happy Birthday to Papa!

Can’t let the day pass without happy birthday to the man called Papa. Ernest Hemingway.

The first writer who made a deep and indelible impression on me in high school some 45 years ago. A most favorite and treasured author to this day.

April 7, 1935: Before writing The Old Man and the Sea, Ernest Hemingway went fishing for tuna and hooked a shark aboard instead. Never one to back down, the writer picked up his Colt .22—and accidentally shot himself in the legs.

The world breaks everyone, and afterward, many are strong at the broken places.

Thank you, Papa, for being you.
